Resistance Heating wires (round & flat)

Resistance wire is manufactured in a large range of alloys, with finished diameters from 3.25mm down to 0.06mm. When used as a heating element, resistance wire is usually wounded into coils. Many elements and alloys have been used as resistance wire for special purposes.

Resistance tape (or ribbon) can be manufactured from the whole range of alloy wires. Tape has the advantage of offering a greater surface area in a preferred direction which can be beneficial where non-universal heating is required. Example: heating elements in electric toasters.
